π In Chair Whitening π
Talking Dental with Dr. Jacky…Β
I have had some experience with in chair teeth whitening and was introduced to Opalesence on Wednesday last week. The product seemed quite interesting to me and I decided to look into it further. Desley from Ultradent had kindly offered to do a demo for me ON me!! She thought it would be a good idea for me to be on the receiving end for once and understand how people are feeling when sitting in the dental chair.
I was looking forward to the procedure despite being a little unsure of what was about to happen. I have never had anything other than a scale and clean done on myself before (except for that one time when I had my wisdom teeth taken out by my Professor at uni). And yes we do feel the same emotions as everyone does when getting into the dental chair, we are not that different π
Desley was very accommodating and understanding. She was very patient as we went through all the procedures and information related to in chair professional whitening. I was comfortable with Desley and felt like she knew what she was doing and I am in good hands.
Profession in chair whitening for Opalescence Boost consistent of 2-3 rounds of 20min treatments. It is chemically based and does not require a light.
We got through the first round of 20 minutes without much hassle, there was some tenderness around my lower gums, which we realised after the procedure that there was a small leak in the isolation and the whitening solution burnt my gums. After application of Vit E oil, it was barely noticeable that night and regained its pinkness the next day.
Half way through the second round of 20 minutes, I started to get the sensitivity or the βZingingβ in my teeth. It was sporadic at the start but became more frequent toward the end of the session. It was not very comfortable but bearable. I did start to get fidgety towards the end and it makes me appreciate how long procedures feel for people in the chair.
Desley offered to continue with a third round but I decided not to go ahead due to the sensitivity. There was a bit of zinging that night but it improved a lot the next day with the help of topical application of sensitive toothpaste.
There was an improvement of 7 shades after the whitening (see picture) and feel like we have achieved a great result.
